After 7 years, we see the spectacular return of not only Deadpool but Wolverine too! It's a partnership that had been teased for years but grew increasingly less likely after Hugh Jackman retired from the role back in 2017, made even more doubtful after Disney's acquisition of Fox putting into question whether we would even see Deadpool on the big screen again.
Thankfully, our fears were unfounded as both Deadpool and Wolverine make their debuts in the Marvel cinematic universe. delivering everything you would expect: over-the-top action, jokes, references, and surprise cameos. It's all there, but with it comes a surprising amount of emotion and immaculately written dialogue, easily enjoyed by Marvel fanatics and casual audiences alike.
The film has been a resounding success for Marvel. Smashing the box office and achieving over $1 billion worldwide. It's a much-needed win considering how their last entry, The Marvels, underperformed at the box office, receiving the lowest MCU box office opening weekend. Hopefully, Marvel can keep the positivity going forward with Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, all scheduled for 2025.
